Siberian Husky Welfare!

Unfortunately, the UK is increasingly seeing large numbers of "breeders" who are breeding for money alone, without any consideration for the health and welfare of the breed.

The vast majority of the dogs which come into rescue are unregistered dogs bred without health checks by "breeders" concerned more about money than the breed.

So - CAVEAT EMPTOR (Buyer Beware!!!) - if you are interested in buying a Siberian Husky, please be aware that there are some very unscrupulous people out there quite happy to sell you an ill-bred, unsocialised, poor quality puppy from un-health-tested parents.
They may promise you registrations which never arrive, they may lie about the identity of the parents, they may lie about everything except the fact that they want your money!.

Your only protection is to do your homework as thoroughly as you can before even beginning to contact a breeder.

Don't see a flash website and assume that they must therefore be good breeders; assume that, because they are members of a breed club that they are good breeders; and whatever else you do, assume that because they are members of the Kennel Club Accredited Breeder Scheme that they are good breeders.

There are many good breeders amongst these organisations and schemes, but we have also recently come across some appalling puppy farmers who have been members. Membership alone is no guarantee that they are an ethical breeder.

It is extremely unusual for good breeders to need to advertise puppies for sale. They will usually have a waiting list. If a breeder advertises on one of the online puppy sales services, or in the free papers, as a simple rule of thumb, AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

Here are a couple of reputable Siberian Husky Welfare web sites with plenty of information accordingly.
