An area of coniferous woodland in Strath Ardle, E Perth and Kinross, Blackcraig Forest lies to the west of the River Ardle, between Ballintuim and Bridge of Cally.
The Cateran Trail passes through the forest, which cloaks the flanks of Blackcraig Hill. Red squirrels and Roe Deer are amongst the faunal species which can be observed here.
The surfaced
track leads into the forest from Bridge of Cally, with a gate and Forestry
Commission sign at this point. The waymark post is for the Cateran trail.
Directions to the Blackcraigs Forest
From Perth, take the A93 to Blairgowrie, go through the town centre and follow the A93 (signed for Bridge of Cally/Ski-Slopes).
Entrance to the forest is gained by a road beside the Bridge of Cally Hotel, on the Perth side, before the bridge.
The post code for the Hotel is PH10 7JJ.
Follow the forest road up a short climb and through a gate into Blackcraig
Forest, then carry on for approx 2 miles until you arrive at the Rally start
point.
